April 17, 2005: 12 Galaxies, San Francisco, CA. The Flying Other Brothers featuring David Nelson, followed by Melvin Seals.

We suppose a little controversy never hurt anyone too much — just a little, mind you. And it can produce a lot of good music.

David Nelson was in fine form as he stepped up to the front of the bandstand, and we felt right at home with those New Riders classics. He had taken a shine to Roger’s new tune “Gwendolyn,” and at his urging we gave it its first public workout.

Melvin Seals and Friends, among whom many FOBs could be seen, brought the evening to a dramatic close.
